Andries Visser, coordinator of the newbie project was invited to speak about the role of new entrants in vitalising marginal areas on the conference #Feedingtheworld2018 in Madrid, Spain. The focus of the conference was on young people and the rural area. In his presentation he presented the Newbie project and focussed on the specific role new entrants might play in revitalising rural areas. The conference was closed by the Spanish minister of agriculture who promised to substantially increase the budget for stimulating young farmers in Spain.
