University of Ljubljana (UL) is the oldest and the biggest research and educational institution in Slovenia. Department of Geography is integrated into the Faculty of Arts which is a founding member of the University of Ljubljana. The faculty cultivates research work, supports inter-disciplinarity, opens up new academic areas, and creates new educational programmes for its students and wider potential users. Department of Geography has an important role in the education of young geographers (on BSc, MSc levels, and in integrated PhD studies), and in the development and transfer of knowledge. Students can choose different modules which are networking with entrepreneurs, cooperatives, associations, local municipalities, NGOs, public institutions, LAGs, relevant ministries, etc.

Department of Geography (Faculty of Arts at the University of Ljubljana) leads Work package 4 Key factors, toolkits and guidelines in which it is responsible for co-creation of toolkits for new entrants and successors, and recommendations for NEWBIE stakeholders.
