The 5th Slovenian Steering group meeting brought together different stakeholders of the rural development to discuss the progress related to the NEWBIE project and the plan for coming year. The Steering Group consists of researchers, advisors, farming organisation representatives, policy makers, representatives of young farmers and new entrants into agriculture. The meeting (June 16, 2020) was held at the Ministry of the Agriculture, Forestry and Food. Participants were seated 1.5m apart to guarantee social distancing.
The main objectives of the meeting were: to review the activities that had been accomplished since the last meeting (NEWBIE International meeting in Slovenia, NEWBIE Award ceremony, dissemination activities, Slovenian version of E-Newsletter), to plan the actions for 2020 (NEWBIE award, organisation of National discussion circles, international exchanges) and to have a discussion on toolkits.
The focal point of the meeting was a discussion on toolkits for new entrants and supportive environment. It is a core objective of the project, lead by University of Ljubljana. As a NEWBIE consortium, we will prepare 10 toolkits to support enabling environment for new entrants. In July 2020, we will start with procedure for the NEWBIE Award 2020 in Slovenia; in autumn 2020, we are planning to organise a discussion circle (topic: access to knowledge, information) and the 6th Steering group meeting.
