Work Package 3: New entrants support network initiates and maintains national and international networks linking new entrants, established farmers, farming organisations and NGOs, farming advisors, agricultural and business educators and academics. Networks of at least 50 members per country are expected to be developed over the course of the project. These networks will identify, further develop and promote the innovative business models and entry models for new entrants which are already practice, within and between countries. The WP collects and makes information available on the support needs of new entrants, and the supports (e.g. financing, training, advice, mentoring) available to them through an on-line registration system designed in WP3. The network will be stimulated to continue its function in supporting needs of new entrants after the runtime of NEWBIE. In the final 2 years of NEWBIE, the national steering groups for the networks will develop specific action plans, which include options such as seeking industry sponsors for the annual awards, establishing Operational Groups on promising new approaches, and integrating activities more closely with existing advisory services.
