Belgian Newbie team cooperates with Generation Food
Similar to the edition of 2019, the Belgian Newbie team choose to work with a two-step procedure to decide on its winner for the Newbie 2020 edition. Five farmers were selected in a first round by the Newbie team. After this round, we had two panels. On the one hand, the Belgian national steering board composed the expert panel for this award. During an online meeting, these experts discussed on the strengths and weaknesses of the candidates. On the other, a public campaign was launched allowing the public to vote for their favorite farm. Over 4000 people voted, which is considered as a real success.
On the 8th of September, we will finally have the Award Event. The event was initially foreseen in June, though had to be postponed due to COVID-19 measures.
The Award event will be combined with a workshop that links up with a relevant burden for new entrants: the challenge of finding a good balance in working with employees. This workshop is organized by Generation Food. Generation Food is an agro and food movement helping people solve food related problems. But we can’t do this alone so we need your help. Generation Food is not only for starters or youngsters. Generation Food doesn’t share a period or age. They share a vision, an interest. They bundle experience and ideas of farmers, students, entrepreneurs trying to build a sustainable foodture through entrepreneurship.
