This time, the German Newbie Award goes to “Grow Up Salicornia GbR”. The salt plant “Salicornia Europaea” contains valuable nutrients and tastes spicy. “Grow Up Salicornia GbR” is Germany’s first regional grower of fresh salicornia. The founders of the start-up are Ken Dohrmann and Julian Engelmann. Together, the two founded their company in 2020. The founders have developed and implemented their own cultivation system for the salt plants. By participating in the EIP-AGRI funding programme of the state of Saxony-Anhalt, they gain access to capital and a broad network of practitioners, researchers and scientists. In addition, the two have cleverly gained access to land, knowledge and markets and have acted innovatively and sustainably in the process. Congratulations to Ken and Julien!
