Real Estate Eyckenstein provides access to land to Dutch Newbies
The newbie teams in the Netherlands just published an article about a real estate that gives place to 3 Newbies. The estate has a size of 430 hectares of land on which three new entrants in agriculture are renting land and buildings.
There is the vegetable garden of Eyckenstein runned by Luuk and Jasper. They are taking care of a wide variety of vegetables which are sold every Wednesday and Saturday. The second new entrant is having a herb garden with organic herbs. Agnes is a herbalist and is growing the herbs for tea blends, kitchen herbs and for other herbal products. Agnes has added a flower garden and a tea garden in the summer. And new entrant number three is Jacob with a mixed farm with wheat and Jersey livestock. The meat of the Jerseys are sold via short chains in 10 regional organic shops.
The rent for the land and buildings for these new farmers is adjusted towards business models they have. So they are paying a serious rent but not a maximum rent. For the real estate the rent is an important income. However the new entrants are also bringing new connections with citizens, goodwill at governments and grant providers.
